Merriman Vineyard Estate
Grown at the highest elevation in the vineyard, Blocks 1 and 2 were planted with Pommard and Wädenswil clones in the Spring of 1999. Never irrigated, the roots from the vines go deeper, adding to the complexity of the wine. The East facing slope provides for exposure to the morning sun, burning off the morning dew and going behind the hills in mid-afternoon.
The 2013 Merriman Estate was made in only twelve barrels and shows the intense flavors that only the highest elevation and lowest yields of our vineyard can produce. The long, seductive mouthfeel is a slow and contemplative interplay of plush dark fruit, cocoa powder, cardamom pods and clove oil that cleave with the silky tannins that are only found from outstanding vintages in ideal growing conditions.

The Cummins Road
The Cummins Road is made up of grapes from the new south facing block #13. This block is planted entirely to the Pinot Noir clone Wädenswil, which traces its origin to Switzerland. The extra degrees of heat from the southern exposure ensure a nice, even ripeness, giving the wine its full character. Restrained use of French oak during the wine making process rounds out the palate and gives it a creamy mouthfeel. We are proud to produce this value-oriented wine completely from Merriman Vineyard fruit and to let it serve as an introduction to the vineyard. 1400 cases produced
Old Vine Chenin Blanc
An old vineyard was spotted by the side of the road late one evening while driving in the wine country of eastern Washington state. When we found out it was Chenin Blanc planted in the 1970’s, we decided to clean up two acres of it and call it our own. We still have those same two acres, which are now over forty years old.
After picking, we let the grapes soak on their skins for 4 hours prior to gentle pressing, allowing the juice to reveal the delicate character of this Loire varietal. After pressing, the juice undergoes primary fermentation in stainless steel drums and then aged in neutral French oak for 6 months.
Tasting notes: Aromas of bees wax, honeysuckle, gold raspberries guava and box elder. A caramel flan richness of texture shocked with vibrant acids and flavors of peach, myrrh and toasted pecans. Best enjoyed at cellar temperature.
